Last month, we came together for something truly special — a Best Friends Walk, to celebrate 10 years of keeping best friends together. And what a beautiful celebration it turned out to be.
More than 300 people and over 200 dogs joined us at Karkarook Park for a morning filled with connection, laughter, and a whole lot of tail wagging. From the moment the bandanas went on and the coffee started pouring, the atmosphere was buzzing with warmth and community.
The morning began with a relaxed stroll around the lake, spent chatting with fellow animal lovers, as the pups sniffed all the exciting smells.
Everywhere we looked were wagging tails, beaming faces, and plenty of muddy paws.
But the fun didn't stop there. From the photobooth and sausage sizzle, to our good friend, Myf Warhurst as MC for the day, the atmosphere was truly electric.
But what made the celebration even more special was the generosity shown by our community.
Thanks to everyone who walked, donated, purchased a sausage, bought a raffle ticket or fundraised:
We raised an incredible $53,457 to help keep best friends together through the toughest of times.
Every dollar raised helps to continue our work ensuring people experiencing hardship never have to choose between their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of the pet they love.
Whether this remains a once-off celebration or something we bring back in the future, one thing is certain: this event will always hold a special place in our hearts.
To everyone who joined us — walkers, dogs, volunteers, fundraisers, sponsors and cheerleaders — thank you. You helped us mark 10 years of Pets Of The Homeless in the most joyful, meaningful way possible.
Here’s to the next decade of keeping best friends together.
