FAQs
Who can host a donation drive?
What types of donations can we collect?
We can happily accept unopened pet food and treats, as well as new or gently used, clean pet supplies such as toys, pet jackets, pet beds and bowls.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to accept towels or human bedding, including pillows or doonas.
How long should a donation drive run for?
It’s entirely up to you. As a guide, we recommend running your donation drive for a minimum of two weeks, which allows plenty of time to spread the word and gives people the opportunity to donate and drop items off.
Where do the donations go and who do they help?
Donations are distributed to our community partners across Victoria, who provide direct support to people experiencing homelessness or hardship and the pets they love.
How do we get the donations to Pets Of The Homeless once the drive ends?
You’re welcome to drop donations off at our HQ at 84A Keys Road, Cheltenham. We’re open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, and Saturday, 10am–1pm. If you can, please send us a quick email at petfoodbank@petsofthehomeless.org.au to let us know when you’re planning to pop by — it helps us make sure someone’s ready to greet you and receive your donations.
