Brookie takes on Melbourne Half Marathon 👟

I'm raising funds to help keep vulnerable people and pets together during tough times

This year, I’m lacing up my running shoes again to take on the Nike Melbourne Half Marathon, and I’m proud to be raising money for Pets of the Homeless Australia.

Last year, I ran the half marathon and raised over $600 for this incredible organisation. It was such a rewarding experience that I knew I wanted to do it again — not just to challenge myself, but to continue supporting a cause that means so much.

After last year’s fundraiser, I was incredibly grateful to be invited to visit the Pets of the Homeless Australia office and warehouse. I got to see where they keep their supplies and, more importantly, where volunteers come together to prepare pet food.

Seeing the work behind the scenes really brought home to me just how important this organisation is. For someone experiencing homelessness, their pet can be their closest companion, their family and sometimes their only source of comfort. Pets of the Homeless Australia helps make sure that people don’t have to choose between looking after themselves and looking after the animal they love.

The half marathon will be a challenge — 21.1 km is a long way! — but every kilometre will be made a little easier knowing that I’m running for something bigger than myself.
